My aims with the practical research were, reflection paper in practical research 2, most simply, to explore and to expand my own filmmaking process. Poetry is a well-developed skill of mine and I hoped to combine the two; to make a film through the same reflection paper in practical research 2 as which I write poetry.

To keep the emotion, abstraction, and urgency of my poetry intact in a film. Putting words to paper is logistically a much simpler task than putting images on a screen. In the time it takes to analyze, plan, shoot, and edit a film, the urgency and clarity of the inspiration can fade.

So I chose to use only the poem as a guideline for shooting, to capture images the poem inspired my to capture. The emotions that inspired the poem were used in conjunction with emotions inspired by the poem itself which, if I did convey in the poem what I wished to, would be the same emotions. Then taking the images into editing I could organize them, and make sense of them in relation to each other, much through the same process as I had originally structured the poem.

This was entirely feasible with a smaller project such as this, and I feel as though this attempt at adapting a poem into two short films was successful. In using my influences to help shape the poem, I was able to instead of going from scratch in creating a world that is completely contained within my own experiences, draw from the work of prominent directors and artists to make it come to life by following and drawing from their examples.

While writing the poem, I found it easiest to get through this task because it was really the start of the foundation building for my scattered emotions on the subject. Poetry is something for me that comes easy reflection paper in practical research 2 all of the subjects which I wish to write about are all very complex, referential, episodic moments in time that I can describe them in strange, obscured ways and present them in a cohesive form, as opposed to fiction writing where there is need for a structured narrative.

My research aims were to grow as a filmmaker and I believe I have done that very successfully. The shaping of the two short films helped me to gather my own filming crew, compose a score, reflection paper in practical research 2, and decide on all the shots necessary in capturing the essence of my poem.

I plan to expand on this process in the future by creating more short films from poems, as I love the prospect of adapting something that is not often translated to other mediums, reflection paper in practical research 2. With this project, I feel I have further closed in on my voice as a filmmaker and artist.
